Abstract

Weight tables for individual rebollo oak (Quercus pyrenaica Willd.) coppice shoots (from roots or stumps) are presented using basal diameter, D (25 cm above floor level) and total height, H, as independent variables in potential (allometric) an linear models. The formers were fitted through non linear regression and the latters through linear regression. D shows a high correlation with total oven dry weight and may be used as the only independent variable in local weight tables built from potential equations. For large areas, it is necessary to also include H in the equation which, this way, offers good estimates for trees belonging to different stands. In this case, similar results have been achieved with potential (allometric) and linear equations and therefore the latter, which is simpler, has been chosen. Finally additional data are presented on bark and oven dry weight percentages for different diametrical classes.
