Estimación del módulo de elasticidad estático de la madera a partir del módulo de elasticidad dinámico
Resumen
Objetivo del estudio: Analizar el comportamiento y la capacidad predictiva de diferentes métodos de ensayos no destructivos (END) —ultrasonidos, vibraciones longitudinales y transversales, y flexión estática— para la estimación del módulo de elasticidad estático (MOEGTO) en dos especies de gran interés forestal en Europa: Pinus sylvestris y Populus × euramericana. Además, este estudio se centra en el desarrollo de modelos de predicción global del MOEGTO utilizando el módulo de elasticidad NDT de ambas especies, y en la mejora de la fiabilidad de la predicción mediante el proceso de validación cruzada.
Área del estudio: Región de procedencia 8 (Sistema Ibérico Septentrional, España) y Ribera del Carrión (Palencia, España).
Material y métodos: Se analizaron 75 muestras de madera aserrada (45 de Pinus sylvestris y 30 de Populus × euramericana) con dimensiones de 60 × 40 × 1200 mm mediante ensayos de ultrasonido, vibración longitudinal y transversal, y ensayos de flexión estática, tanto destructivos como no destructivos, realizados con una máquina de ensayos universal. Se desarrollaron modelos de regresión para predecir el módulo de elasticidad estático (MOEGTO).
Resultados principales: El modelo de predicción mediante el método END de vibraciones longitudinales con el software de Transformada Rápida de Fourier (FFT) para Pinus sylvestris mostró el mayor coeficiente de determinación con R2 = 0.56, mientras que para Populus × euramericana, el método de ultrasonido con el dispositivo Sylvatest 4 arrojó un R2 = 0.67. Para ambas especies, el modelo de predicción global con mejor ajuste se obtuvo con el método de ultrasonido utilizando el dispositivo Sylvatest Trio, logrando un R2 = 0.60. Además, la aplicación de la validación cruzada mejoró el rendimiento predictivo de los modelos globales, en particular para los tres métodos de ultrasonido y el método de vibración longitudinal, los cuales alcanzaron valores de R2 superiores a 0.6
Aspectos destacados de la investigación: Este estudio confirma la fiabilidad de las técnicas de ultrasonido y vibración longitudinal para estimar MOEGTO y aporta nuevos conocimientos al comparar múltiples métodos NDT en dos especies y desarrollar modelos de predicción global sólidos y validados de forma cruzada.
