Induction of somatic embryogenesis in pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.)
Abstract
Somatic embryogenesis of pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) has been successfully attempted. Internodes and leave pieces from seedlings, mature and immature embryos, undeveloped ovules and ovular tissues were used as initial explants. Globular and heart-shaped somatic embryos were obtained on hypocotyls and cotyledons of immature zygotic embryos cultures on solid WPM supplemented with 0.44 μM and 0.05 μM NAA, or 4.44 μM BA, or from embryo-derived callus cultured in liquid medium supplemented with glutamine (3.42 μM) after induction with 4.52 μM 2,4-D.
