This issue aims to showcase the latest developments in forest monitoring, offering a comprehensive platform for the dissemination of knowledge on both national and international scales. By focusing on cutting-edge methods and collaborative efforts, this special issue will explore the critical role of monitoring networks in enhancing ecosystem assessment and sustainable forest management. The issue will be organized around the following three core themes:
Evolution and harmonization of forest monitoring networks in Spain and Europe: from data collection protocols to analytical methods.
Leveraging emerging technologies in Spanish forest monitoring: integration with traditional networks for enhanced data collection and analysis.
Applications and impact of forest monitoring networks in Spain: supporting sustainable forest management, policy, and research.
